HOW TO APPLY FOR A RESIDENCY

Regular Residencies

Visiting artists who wish to participate in our regular residency program may come and stay for one month to nine months, November through July. Residencies for less time are considered based on demand for space; rent is by the month only.

Application deadline for regular residencies that take place between November 2007 and July 2008 is June 15. However, artists are encouraged to apply throughout the year as we sometimes have cancellations.

Fully-Funded Residencies

  • The Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Scholarship Residency in August.
    • The MFA Scholarship Program is with the San Francisco Art Institute and the MFA writer’s program of the University of Montana and is open only to recent MFA graduates of these institutions. Participating schools set the deadlines.
  • The American Indian Artists Residency in September. Deadline for application is April 15; fill out specific American Indian Artists Residency application (see at right).
  • The Writer’s Residency in October (with the Helena Festival of the Book). Deadline for application is May 15.
